I did so amazingly well on day 1 that it was bound to go downhill from there, lol. I had planned to read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in it’s entirety but sadly that didn’t happen. My edition only has 96 pages so really it was a no-brainer one-day read but I slacked. A lot! Instead of reading I spend time watching make-up collection videos on Youtube and watching The Biggest Loser. Both are also really fun to do but not in the middle of a read-a-thon!! Today I am going to be good again. Although it is already 12.30 and I have yet to read anything today. I did however get a nice sleep in. Those are much appreciated ;). The plan for today is to finish The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, read chapter 2 of Dracula and start Where She Went by Gayle Forman. Should certainly be very doable!
To make myself feel a little better, these are the stats from day 1 & 2:
Total pages read: 298
Books finished: If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Did your day 2 go better then mine?
The first day of Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon was a great success. I decided to give my current reads a rest and start fresh with the beginning of the marathon! I have wanted to read If I Stay for a while now, especially now that the movie has come out. I bought the boxset at couple of weeks ago and started reading it yesterday morning. I did not expect the shortness of the book! It was only 234 pages long. This means that I flew through it and that by the end of the day I had finished my first book. I really notice that setting myself lower goals is really motivating me to read more for some weird reason!
Day 1 Stats

Finishing page: Page 234 of If I Stay

My goal for Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon is to read 4 books. After day 1 I have already reached 25% of that goal. I hope that I can keep up the good work! Now that my first day went so well I am confident that I can managed some pages in the books I had already started. I want to try and read a few chapters of Anne of Green Gables. Also read about 25 pages of Dracula and lastly I want to try to start and finish The Wonderful Wizard of Oz today!
How did your first day go?
I have planned for a while to participate in this read-a-thon. I just love read-a-thon’s! But then I forgot about and suddenly it is here. It starts tomorrow! The last 2 weeks have been really bad for me in terms of reading. I have finished about 1.5 books and I am not happy with those numbers! Luckily this read-a-thon starts at the right time and gives me ample time to enjoy some reading in the rest of the month!
The Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon is hosted by My Shelf Confessions and takes place from October 17 to October 27, 2014. This gives me 11 days to read a massive amount of pages!
I am going to keep my goals rather simple; they are really aimed to get me reading again so I am not going to be harsh with myself :).
1) Simple – read everyday, even though it is only 20 pages. I need to remember why it is so much fun to read again!
2) Try to finish 4 books during the read-a-thon. From previous read-a-thon’s I know that this is doable in 7 days but again I want to keep the pressure low.
3) Enjoy reading again! Participate on twitter, try my hand at the challenges and keep you guys up to date with progress posts here on Jirrine Reads Fiction.
4) Comment on 5 people’s progress every day. We are all doing this together and it is awesome to support each other :).
Well, now for my very tentative tbr:
1) If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I really want to see the movie but I want to read the book first.
2) Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Same goes for this book.
3) Dune by Frank Herbert. Started this book a few weeks ago. It is massive but enjoyable so far. I would really like to get to the halfway point.
4) Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. This book is fun although somewhat slow. I am nearing the halfway point so finishing this should be a formality.
5) Dracula – Bram Stoker. This read-a-thon is called wonderfully wicked for a reason so a good creepy book is a necessary element. Hopefully I will not be too freaked out by Dracula!
I am ready to get back into the groove with reading. Wish me luck! Oh and if you are participating leave me your sign-up post/tbr below. I would love to check it out!
It is done. Finished. Bout of Books 11.0 is already over. That went fast. I had been looking forward to this for weeks and now it gone by. I certainly know that I will be participating in the next Bout of Books! So here are the stats of my last day. Not that good but I did finally get into a book again that I really enjoy. Hope to finish that one soon :).
Starting page: Page 55 of The Passage & Page 0 of Purple Hibiscus & 25% of Romeo and Juliet
Finishing page: Page 71 of The Passage & Page 71 of Purple Hibiscus & 33% of Romeo and Juliet
Time spend reading: 1 hour and 35 minutes
Pages read: 96 pages

The trend of the last few days have been to not read but I am still really happy with what I managed to read in total. So without further ado:Totals for Bout of Books 11.0
Time spend reading:
16 hours and 40 minutes
Het Gulden Vlies van Thule +
My goals were the following:
1) Finish 5 books – I finished 4, pretty good!
2) Read at least 1500 pages – Read 1246 out of 1500. Almost..
3) Comment on as many blogs as I can! – Total fail. Only on the first day did I comment actively. But I still have time, so this week is going to be dedicated to visit everyone’s wrap-up post!
I am glad I participated and I am totally reading to break my records next read-a-thon!
Don’t forget to celebrate with me. I am two months old and I am hosting a giveaway here.
The last two days have been terrible reading wise. I read barely nothing. At all. I just couldn’t get into a book and then I just gave up. I felt like I already reached a limit of some sorts this month. There is only so much book that my brain can handle, lol. So here are the abysmal stats of the last two days:
Day 5 + 6
Starting page: Page 78 of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 10% of Romeo and Juliet
Finishing page: Page 231 of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. 25% of Romeo and Juliet
Time spend reading: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Pages read: 173 pages
Book finished: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
See what I am talking about? Nothing really good went on here. I just couldn’t for the life of me get into The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Else this would have been a 1 day read. Now I had to force myself to finish it. Not that I thought it was bad, it just couldn’t interest me very much.
Totals (Day 1 – 6)
Time spend reading: 15 hours and 5 minutes
Pages read: 1150 pages
Books finished: Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich + Het Gulden Vlies van Thule by Thea Beckman+ The Carrier by Anne Tibbets + The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Cbosky (4)
Hopefully I’ll get some reading done on day 7. My goals was to read 1500 pages so I’ll have to read 350 to reach that. I don’t think I will but I am going to try anyway :). Did your days go better than mine??
Well, where to begin? I did not reach my 350 page goal and I am a bit disappointed. I did get some reading done yesterday and I finished a long overdue book, The Carrier by Anne Tibbets, but still I had hoped to read some more. But there is still hope because this read-a-thon still has 3 days left in which I totally can read a 1000 pages. Right?
Starting page: 57% of Carrier, Page 0 of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 0% of Romeo and Juliet
Finishing page: 100% of Carrier, Page 78 of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 10% of Romeo and Juliet
Time spend reading: 2 hours and 44 minutes
Pages read: 194 pages
Book(s) finished: The Carrier by Anne Tibbets
The morning went pretty well with The Carrier, which I am still not quite sure about. I’ll have to let that sit for a bit before I can formulate an opinion. The Perks of Being Wallflower will definitely get finished on Day 5. It only has 230 pages. I also really want to finish Romeo and Juliet, but I am listening to the play while reading along, so that goes a little slower.
Totals (Day 1-4)
Times spend reading: 12 hours and 35 minutes
Pages read: 977 pages
Books finished: Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich + Het Gulden Vlies van Thule by Thea Beckman+ The Carrier by Anne Tibbets
Well, hopefully the last 3 days will be all reading and a lot of fun!
Finally, today made some sense again. I am disappointed by the fact that I did not comment on other people’s updates but I will be better on day 4! Due to all the reading I don’t really have had the time to review anything, so this going to be my only update for today. Hopefully I will manage to get everything back in order this weekend. I still have some post ideas floating around in my head but I will stay behind the computer if I start working on it, and then all my reading time will vanish into thin air. Back to day 3. I finished my second book :D. I am really happy, because day 2 had been such a slow day. And with my book finished, I finished another series. Granted it was not really a series, more like companion novels but still. Read that, done that.
Starting page: Page 165 of Het Gulden Vlies van Thule
Finishing page: Page 423 of Het Gulden Vlies van Thule
Time spend reading: 3 hours and 1 minute
Pages read: 258 pages
Book(s) finished: Het Gulden Vlies van Thule by Thea Beckman
Totals (Day 1+2+3)
Time spend reading: 9 hours and 51 minutes
Pages read: 783 pages
Books finished: Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich + Het Gulden Vlies van Thule by Thea Beckman
My goals for day 4 are to read more than 350 pages and hopefully finish another book. I can either finish my current kindle read Carrier by Anne Tibbets in which I have 43% left, or listen to my Romeo and Juliet audiobook which takes only 3 hours. Don’t know yet but I am going to make some progress today!
How did you do?
On day 2 I was all over the place. I just couldn’t get in to a single book. Consequently I read from 3 different books and made little progress. Ah, well I still did my best right? I’ve read bits of a historical fiction novel set in China at the turn of the century (1900s), a Dutch young adult book about Greenland in the future and The Passage by Justin Cronin which I think is Science Fiction. It seems like I read a lot because of the time I read but the page count is a bit disappointing.
Starting page: Page 29 of The Concubine of Shanghai, Page 0 of The Passage (Justin Cronin), Page 47 of Het Gulden Vlies van Thule.
Finishing page: Page 77 of The Concubine of Shanghai, Page 55 of The Passage, Page 165 of Het Gulden Vlies van Thule.
Time spend reading: 3 hours and 26 minutes
Pages read: 221 pages
Book(s) finished: –
Totals (Day 1+2)
Time spend reading: 6 hours and 50 minutes
Pages read: 525 pages
Book(s) finished: Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich
Hope I have better luck on Day 3. I am really going to try to finish my second book and make some headway in the other two I started yesterday. How are you doing??
Yes, Bout of Books is on its way!
Not the best picture but here is me, very excited about BoB!
I did not do one of the challenge because I got a little carried away with a game I was playing. My daily goal was to read 4 hours and I think I did a good job for day 1. I finished a book, yeah and commented on some tweets so I say day 1 is a success. Now onto the stats:
Starting page: Page 50 of Two for the Dough + Page 0 of The Concubine of Shanghai
Finishing page: Page 325 of Two for the Dough + Page 29 of The Concubine of Shanghai
Time spend reading: 3 hours and 24 minutes

Book(s) finished: Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich
How did you do on day 1?
